wireless laptop losees connetion ro router

my laptop loses connection to router alot i have change the chanel on the
router and set the ip manuly and it still loses connection to the router
also i update the firmware.im useing a
linksys WRT54G router what can i do to stop this

Do you have any other 2.4GHz appliances around? Typically
cordless phones and microwave ovens operate at 2.4GHz.

yes but the phone is not being used at the time but i live in a town home
mabe next door does but the must be a way to stop it

How far is the laptop from the router? What is between the two?
Walls floors?

Do you have a wireless Intel centrino card in your laptop. Some Linksys and
D-Link routers have problems with the 2200BG and WPA. Try using WEP and see
if that helps.
