Wireless laptop card and compatability

I have tried to install Netgear 811.g wireless software on
my Win98 laptop. When the computer boots, it says it
cannot execute the program because certain files,
some .dll some others, are not present. Netgear tech
support says that I must upgrade to 98SE. Is there any
way around this problem without investing in an upgrade?
Would a adapter for 88.b work where .g does not? Any
suggestions would be appreciated

All wireless support in Windows 98 is provided by the wireless NIC vendors.
If Netgear says you need 98SE, then you need 98SE. You may check into other
vendors NICs to find one that doesn't require SE.

Robbie - I bought a Microsoft Wireless-G Notebook kit
today and am having the same hang-up. I need upnp.dll to
continue. Let me know if you figure out a way around 98.

If the manufacturer says you need Windows 98 Second Edition to use the
adapter then you need it. There is no workaround. There is no other way.
Sorry.
