***PROBLEM SOLVED!!***
Thanks to all who lent their help in this thread. As usual, the
solution bears hardly any relation to the areas we were sniffing
around but alas, c'est la vie.
The very able guys at Linuxant suggested the following:
1) Add the following lines into the config file
'/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-<iface>'
DHCLIENT_MODIFY_RESOLV_CONF='yes'
DHCLIENT_SET_DEFAULT_ROUTE='yes'
Though these lines were present in the
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0 file, they were missing from the
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan-id-<MACADDRESS> file.
Why this was the case will, I suspect, remain another of life's
mysteries.
(I suspect it was a Linuxant DriverLoader installation omission, but I
have almost boundless WIFI access and that's all that matters. Besides
which, it truly is excellent software and with such exemplary support,
it's excusable)
Ciao.
Godffrey.
