Sorry for my ignorance, but too many definitions and contexts floating
around for me to be sure.....
Have a great connection between my PCMCIA card / external antenna and
the local wireless ISP, who has given me a static IP address.
Now, I want to connect my other household PCs (currently on a WIRED
SMC 7004 4-port router, with only MODEM connection to the Internet,
hence my need for the WISP..) to the same link. I'm happy to use
the laptop only in WIRED configuration, and it's too old and moldy
to act as a router itself. Would prefer to go from some wireless
box / module to the 7004 DSL/CABLE modem port, and leave the other
PCs on the 4 local ports.
I'd rather not use XP or Win2K, being happy with WIN98, and in fact,
would rather not use direct PC-PC networking if I can avoid it.
The SMC does NAT, and has basic firewall capabilities that I *could*
program.
Thanks for any suggestions / pointers to resources.
(I have spent HOURS looking thru the archives of this group, but
if the information is there, I'm missing it....) /mark
