I have an smc router and was running an older laptop with smc pmcia card
no problems. Purchased a new laptop (asus) -- has wireless already.
Connects to default but will lose signal after a few minutes without
moving laptop. Actually, signal is listed as quite strong and ip address
is found but internet still not working. Was initially connected with
intel proset wireless and then tried using windows for wireless option
-- same result. Called asus -- as near as I could understand they wanted
me to go bact to the intel proset wireless program -- but for some
reason this in no longer available. They want me to restore to original
status and then try again which would mean reloading everything. At
least I think that is what is requested as tech support was less than
"perfect". Even tried the smc pmcia card -- again drivers load, but no
connection so something is obviously wrong with my wireless setup.
Anyone have any suggestions and/or ideas as to what I might be able to do.
