Or

Setup an access list on your wireless router and turn off SSID
broadcast.

Not as secure as encryption.

Read the book or use Google. Incase you can't be bothered -

Use WPA, turn SSID off, use MAC filtering, turn RF output down.

Can you turn off HTML for newsgroups please. it's normally off by
default in OE.

Though to be fair, that's not always very useful - if you
do send out SSID, it shows the channel is in use and some
neighbour might avoid it then... Changing from a default
setting may be an idea, in case there's a way to get into
<manufacturer name> routers and yours is advertising that
it is made by <manufacturer name> in the SSID! Peter M

I doubt he can use WPA as he will need to set up a RADIUS server for
authentication

Haven't you heard of WPA-PSK?
