Wireless-G Notebook Adapter Install wizard doesn't ask

I'm trying to install the Wireless-G Notebook Adapter.

Once I click "Set up a product" The Install wizard
doesn't ask me whether I am setting up a base station or
an adapter - it just goes ahead and installs something
and exits.

Anybody know why or what to do about it?

You need a minimum of 98SE and a 3 volt cardbus slot
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/br...s.aspx?pid=004

If you are running SE, what MODEL Presario is the laptop? Does device
manager show the adapter at all and what is its status?

It's a Compaq Presario 1694 running windows 98 SE.
It does not show the adapter. I don't know how to tell
if it has a 3 volt cardbus slot.

The PCMCIA socket conatins a TI PCI-1211 CardBus
controller (not sure if this is relevant or not).

I think you should give product support at MS a call and see if this
is a computer known to have issues with these cards as a next step.
