Wireless freezes a few seconds every minute!

I have a Vigor 2600We router/modem (Firmware 2.5) and a laptop with WinXP
and a 3com wireless PCMCIA card.
Every minute, my wireless connection "freezes" for about 2 or 3 seconds.
After this, it will continue to work again for a minute. The connection
isn't dropped, just frozen.
If at the command prompt I enter ping 192.168.1.1 -t, every minute I see a
ping timeout, after which all continues again..

Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this?

Thanks!

The problem sounds like the Wireless Zero Configuration service built into
Windows XP, which
wakes up every 60 seconds and performs a full scan of 802.11 channels in an
attempt to find a better access point.

If the 3Com card comes with its own card management software, you could try
turning off the XP management of the card.
