Wireless Drop Outs

I have the MN-720 Wireless G Router and am using the MN-
730 PCI adapters in two computers. Frequently my router
will just drop out. Both computers will show that there
is not wireless connection available. This happens
regardless of how I have the encryption setup, if I do or
do not broadcast the SSID, use MAC flitering or not. It
happens on all 11 channels. I am at my wits end. I
cannot make this stop from happening. I have upgraded to
the latest software/firmware on everything, but I still
the the drop outs. It is so bad now that if I make any
changes whatsoever to the router, it drops the wireless
conections as soon as I press the Apply buttong. This is
not acceptable. If there is a solution, I will most happy
to learn. Hopefully this is a problem that can be
corrected with a firmware upgrad.

I have the same problem and like you, I have tried many
things to no avail. My suspicion at this point is
interference. A co-worker has the mn700 as well (the
base is 700, the pcmcia card is 720) and he pretty much
sees his connection drop whenever he turns on his 2.4Ghz
panasonic phone. I'm thinking that the mn700 isn't very
resistant to interference and most likely shuts down the
transmitter when it gets overloaded. Not much you can do
other than try to move the access point (which I plan to
do tonight) to a location away from the source of noise.

The only other options I see is to:
1. Buy an access point that is a bit more configurable
and has the option to connect a different external
antenna (I'm looking at the Dlink 624 or maybe a combined
a/g when they come down in price just to get away from
the 2.4Ghz band). I don't know if this will fix the
problem, but it might be worth a shot.
2. Live with the dropout and wait to see if it's
something that can be fixed with a firmware upgrade.

Regarding the wireless drop when changing settings,
whenever I change the settings, I don't notice the
wireless drop off because I'm not checking, but I do see
a "RF Reset...pass" in the base station log which
indicates to me that any changes to WEP, SSID, MAC
filtering, require a reset of the radio. It's usually
quite brief as far as I can tell.

I had a similar problem (drop outs) until I enabled Windows Zero
Configuration. Now my wireless PC's will automatically connect to the my
work or home network without issue. Like you, I am broadcasting the SSID
and I'm using MAC filtering. Hope this helps!

I have the same issue and know it is my telephone that is
causing the drop outs. As soon as the 2.4 ghz phone
rings and I answer, the wireless network drops for the
duration of the phone call. Hang up and the network
comes back up.

It is unbelievably annoying in this age of 2.4ghz
telephones and MS really needs to address this. Really.

Well - I took it back to Circuit City last night and
swapped it for a Linksys.
The manager there was great and swapped it out - he said
that they are all full of problems.
I cannot recommend the MN-700

Can you tell where to find the "Windows Zero
Configuration" so that I may try the same?

Thanks
