wireless connection through 2 floors?

A couple of questions before I make a purchase.

1. What is the likelihood of 2 US Robotics 22mbps Desktop cards talking to
each other when the distance is approximately 10m? The problem is one PC(the
main PC connected to a USB ADSL modem) is downstairs underneath the stairs
and the other in my top bedroom on the 2nd floor, so the signal has to pass
through 2 floors.

2. Both machines are running Windows 98, I know they can be networked using
98, but can they share my Internet connection? I understand there may be a
problem with modem sharing with Windows 98.

Two floors is iffy -- depends on the floor construction, and the
antennae placement, and so on. It would be a good idea to buy your
gear from a store with a friendly return policy, in case it won't go.

W98FE does not support ICS, but W98SE does. If the PC you want to have
as the ICS host runs W98SE, then the other PC can run W98FE.

I have a US Rob 22mbps network card running in my PC downstairs and the
access point is in my attic 2 floors above - it works fine. I also have
another PC over in a house 200 yards away with the same card - this would
not work - but I added a high gain antenna to the far end and the signal
strength is now excellent.

The PC I am using to write this is a Win98FE machine sharing an Internet
connection with four other computers: another that is Win98FE, a Win98SE, a
WinME, and a WinXP.
