Recently I installed a linksys router in my desktop and put wifi cards in
laptops in two computers in other rooms. Recently, the remote computers
have been unable to connect to the internet. When I check the setup, it
appears that someone in our building is using another system called "Elwin".
I would appreciate any help anyone can provide.
TIA
Jon Gray

Hi Jon,
Change the channel your equipment uses, if it is defaulted to channel
1, best is to change it to channel 6 or 11.

that should resolve your problem.

The question isn't "are there weapons of mass destruction?",
the question is "who has them now?"

If you're using XP, then you can disable the Wireless Configuation Service.
That too will stop the machine from seeing other wireless networks in your
area.

But it won't keep two networks using the same channel from interfering
with each other.

Picture two radio station antennae standing next to each other and
both using the same frequency.
