WIRELESS CARD AND TCP/IP NOT TALKING

I have in stalled a wireless network PCI card in my WIN98
(first edition) machine. According the devise manager,
the card is functioning properly. Throught the wireless
utility I can establish an SSID with the other system. I
can't seem to get the WIN98 machine to get any further.
If I run IPCONFIG I get "IP CONFIGURATION FATAL ERROR".

I tried to change to a NETBEUI protocol but the XP
machine I am trying to communicate with didn't like using
the NETBEUI.

Is there a way to force the TCP/IP... or have I missed
something else?
