Hi there,

I need a good wireless broadband router. Can anyone recommend any?

Are there any pitfalls in having wireless?

Thanks
K

I have a 3COM wireless router which was easy to install and works fine.
Pitfalls? Well there is a security issue with wireless networking - Google
is your friend

I'm quite happy with my 3Com 3CRWE754G - which came with a "free" PCMCIA
wireless card for my laptop.

Make sure that you take adequate precautions to stop the world and his dog
from gatecrashing your wireless LAN:
* use the highest level of encryption that all your kit can collectively
support
* use MAC address filtering - so that the router only talks to wireless
devices it knows about
* turn off SSID broadcasting

Make sure that you've got the ability to connect at least one PC via a wired
connection, and use this to configure the router. [If you configure it with
a wireless PC and manage to screw up the security, you're stuffed - because
you can't see what the router's doing or modify the config to get back on
the air!]

Tim
