I have been doing some research and I think I am ready to extend my
wireless network across the street. I would like to run the scenario
by everyone for approval. I currently have a connection to the
Internet (Cisco 804) and static (routable) IP's for my internal hosts.
My current wireless network consists of a WAP11 in AP mode connected
via Ethernet to my router. I use routable static IP's internally (no
NAT). I am planning on adding another WAP11 in bridged mode connected
via Ethernet which would then connect to a third WAP11 in bridged mode
about 400 ft away. I will most likely be using some sort of external
antenna for the bridges. At the remote side I would then connect a
fourth WAP11 via a crossover cable so that the clients could connect
wirelessly. So basically I would just be using the WAP11's to bridge
the remote wireless network to my LAN. I assume that I would use a
different SSID on the Bridged AP's and the remote AP. I only have a
limited number of IP's so I don't think that I need to assign IP's
within my LAN range to the bridges or the fourth remote AP. My current
AP is not assigned a valid IP and all works fine. Am I missing
anything.
Thanks,
Lonnie
