Can some one point me to hardware that would be required to interconnect
buildings wirelessly. They are about 300 ft. across a parking lot. Are
there any other alternatives, other then a fiber run.

All you need is a wireless access point which supports bridging.

Dlink and Linksys both make APs that support bridging. BTW, bridging is a
non-standard feature so you'll need to buy 2 APs from the same company.
There are also units available from Dlink which support multi point
bridging (one to many).

You may want to add a directional antenna to both ends to increase the
signal strength too.

If you can do it trough windows and there are no obstacles in between it
should work with std. home AP and USB adapter / receiver placed on the
respective window sills,
or, alternatively use matching wifi bridge units.
If you have to go through walls you may need external antennas.

Works for me thru 2 exterior wood frame walls, one internal partion,
80 meters, Use D-Link's DI-624 router first building, a DWL-G520
wireless card on desktop in second building. Hope the leaves on the
maple tree don't interfer as Spring progresses.

My preference is to be able to connect into a wired LAN in second
building, but would need 2 new compatible access-point bridge units
for that

Matt, there are several things you need to consider before choosing a
type of link.

1. What is the link used for, IE a commercial user needs much higher
reliability and security then a home user.

2. Link speed needed, to extend the reach to surf the web connected to
a cable/DSL modem and any 802.11b link should work. If a higher amount
of bandwidth is needed for applications then 802.11A or a full duplex
microwave or optical system is needed.

My reccomendations are for home use any brand of consumer 802.11b
should be adequate. For business use where high throughput is needed
but not 100% reliability per packet I suggest Proxim MP.11A or Cisco
bridges. For high speed and 99.999% reliability I suggest Western
Multiplex (proxim) microwave.
