I would suggest you do as the error message says and reinstall the wireless networking utility software and the drivers for the
wireless network card from CD on the win 98 machine.
To prepare the machine properly you should uninstall the software from control panel first then remove the wireless adapter using
device manager and then restart the machine. Once restarted windows will re-discover the network adapter and start looking for
drivers for it. At that point you should have the CD in the drive and make sure windows searches it for drivers by checking that
box in the driver search panel.
Once you have the network card properly installed pop the CD out and back in again to launch the installer to connect the PC to the
gateway. and follow the prompts to install. When you get to the setup panel asking if you wish to share printers and files select
that option and it should work.
You will have two basic options for installing, using the setup floppy disk created when you installed the software on the base
station or manual configuration. The floppy disk makes thing easier as it has the name of the group that was assigned to the base
station so they end up in the same area in network neighborhood which is easier to find and also the printer and file sharing
options are saved there to configure your new client.
