Ive been trying to get my Netgear WG311 802.11g adapter working in Mandrake
9.1 and have no
luck. I have downloaded and compiled the madwifi driver. Successfully
installed and loaded it - iwconfig shows ip address, etc. Ive tried all the
modes and combination of settings via iwconfig and cant get it to talk to
the access point. When I do an 'iwlist ath0 channel' it shows the scanning
of all channels, but running 'iwlist ath0 ap' will show no ap found. I have
set up a 128 bit key and set the network id. Ive tried putting these in via
the essid and key options, but still wont work. Ive tried mode Auto, Mode 3,
etc, but no luck. When running in Windows 2K, it always shows channel 11 and
I have tried to force channel 11 and also put the MAC address of the access
point, but it still wont find it. One thing I had to do when setting up the
Windows driver, was set the encryption strength, country and choose manual
key, rathar than phrase option. I cant find the equivilent options for the
Linux drivers.

Anyone have any ideas?

The access point is a Netgear WGR614 wireless router attached to an ADSL
modem. Works fine in Windows 2K.
