Wireless Adapter Works better in Windows, WTF!

I got a Belkin PCI wireless adapter at Wal-Mart for like $30 something. I
was glad to see that it works in SUSE 10. The thing though is it seems to
get a better signal when I use it in Windows XP then when I use it in SUSE
10. Another thing I noticed is the green LED on the back of it only comes
on when I'm in Windows.

Right now I'm getting the feeling it has something to do with the linux
driver. I didn't have to install anything to get it to work in SUSE. I
just set it up with YAST and I had it working in less then 5 minutes. It
actually took longer to set up in Windows XP. I'm using the drivers that
came with the CD to install on XP.

I just want to know why I get a piss pore signal when using Linux. Don't
ask me the chipset, I don't know. I've had it for weeks. I didn't even
noticed the signal difference between Windows and Linux until a day or go.
I almost never use Windows.

After some research I believe is uses the Broadcom chipset. I just looked
at the back of my computer and the light is on but very very dim. It would
seem that what ever Linux driver it's using isn't using the hardware at
it's full potential. Like putting a 80 year old in a sports car.

I'll keep you all up to date on my progress.

I just found that in YAST, I'm installing it now. I'll let you know what
happens after I play with it.

"lsmod" to see what driver it's using? Maybe there's a better one available
to which someone can direct you.

Also "cat /proc/net/wireless" might yield some useful information.

I just installed NDIS wrapper. Now what? Keep in mind I almost never use
the CLI, so my experience in commands is seriously lacking.

How do you know you get a better signal in Windows? If you are just
relying on what software tells you, then it's possible that different
software uses different scales.
