wireless adapter slowing down

I have the linksys wmpgs54 with speedbooster and it's worked great for the
last year, but today I tried to transfer a file back to the main computer
and the speed goes from 54, to 36, 8 and then one within a minute or two. A
700mb file is saying it would take 175 minutes. I updated the driver and
still the same. I reset the router on the other computer (wrt54gs) and
still the same. Any ideas?

Use RJ45 and wire

I am assuming that this is an AVI file? There is known problem in XP
with tranferring large AVI files:
