Hello,
I was just wondering if there is any comparison with a wireless phone
and setting up a wireless connection with a access point. My question is if
I have a wireless telephone and I have a lousy reception around my house
will my wireless access point be also lousy since they both work on radio
frequencies.
thanks

Not like a problem as the wireless access point would be closer. Your phone
cell towers may be congested or too far away. But that is considering you
have normal walls. 801.11x will not like steel walls or 2.4ghz hand phones.

How about steel studded houses?

Providing all the studs are 1/4 wavelength (or multiple thereof) you
might do rather well. Isn't the technical term a "distributed array"?

Since your wireless phone and wireless network may be on different
frequencies there is not enough information to make a reassonable
conclusion. You also did not mention the building material of your
home. A wood frame house will be better then a house with cement block
or brick walls. A house with wood siding will be better then one with
aluminum or stucco (stucco usually has a wire mesh framework)
A 5.8ghz phoone or netowrk will have much worse performance then a 2.4
ghz phone when going thru walls.
