Hi,

Can anyone recommend some good Linux compatible
wireless access points(either 802.11b or 802.11g)?
I've had a search around, and the Linksys models
seem to be getting a lot of complaints about them.

Regards,
Shane.

Wuf! You arn't serious are you?

We deployed a half dozen of the WRT54Gs on our campus. After about two
weeks of trying to get them to function we ripped them out and replaced
them with Proxim AP600s.

There were many failure modes. They lost their SSID, they just plain
stopped doing wireless, they had no real concept of even default routing,
their signal strength dropped to near nothing. We had at least two
hardware failures. The only good thing about them that we had was that we
got a crash course on wifi troubleshooting.

Now we were only using these things for wifi. Their broadband and
ethernet swich capabilites might be just fine.

Don't know if I would say that the Proxims are the best access points
around, but since installing them I've not had to mess with them.

Cheers for the replies.
Probably will regret it, but I ordered the Linksys WRT54G,
as I didn't find any of the UK places I tried selling
the Proxims.

Regards,
Shane.
