Hello.
I am thinking about adding a wireless access point to my Netgear hub
DS108 (8 ports) that is connected to an old Netgear RT311 (firmware
v3.25) and then to a COM21 cable modem (Adelphia PowerLink [2000/128]).
This is for home usage and only going to hook up to laptops (PowerBook
[MacOS X] and notebooks [Windows and Linux]) and maybe expand to
desktops later on. So, I will probably want five ports or so.
I don't want to throw out my old cables and equipments since I still
prefer good, old fashion cables. I am a newbie to wireless stuff, but
had basic experience with networking. I also do need a good security
since wireless is more vulnerable to the world.
Are there anything I need to know about finding a wireless access
point? Any advices are welcomed. Thank you in advance.
