Is there a way/script/registry to have my laptop automatically switch from a
wireless connection to wired whenever I plug it to my network?

Yes you can write such script or program.
For example: on media connect event on the wired net, disable the wireless adapter,
and v.v - on media disconnect, enable the wireless.
