wired sometimes, wireless sometimes

I have several laptops in my wireless network, PCMCIA cards, all working
fine, sharing files and accessing the net. Occasionally, I need to use a
wired PCMCIA network card to move large files or just for convenience. The
card installed and works fine to access the network, but cannot seem to
access the internet through my Linksys router. Same problem regardless of
the laptop it's installed in, 98 or 2000 machines. Wireless card,
internet's fine, file sharing fine. Wired card, file sharing fine but no
internet. Any help?

On the wired card, is the default gateway set to the ip of the router?
