hi,

Can someone kindly point me in that right direction as to what i did
wrong.
I setup a HP laserjet 5 on SuSe 8.2 Pro using CUPs
(/etc/cups/cupsd.conf)

When i add a printer from my XP machine, it ask me for a username and
password which always reply that the server does not accept the login
details.

perhaps your samba doesn't allow public access.

you have to enable public option in smb.conf
or create user/password (/etc/samba/)
