WinXP and WPA connection problem to a WRT54G

I am trying to get a Windows XP home SP2 box to connect in wireless mode to
a linksys WRT54G v5 firmware v1.01.1

It was connected under WEP with SSID disabled and MAC filtering on and had
no problems and was probably secure but I want it more secure.

Is WPA-PSK in winxp equal to WPA Personal in the linksys WRT54G?

I want to run under WPA with SSID disabled and MAC filtering on so no one
can see or connect to my network through the wireless router connection.

Can some one point me to some current information that will help me figure
out where my configuration process is failing?

TIA

Hi
WPA PSK should work.
However, most Entry Level Wireless would not work, or would be highly
unstable when you use WinXP with SSID Off.
Switching SSID Off would not show your Network to your neighbor. But your
neighbor would need spoof the MAC and Brake WPA, in order to brake in. Any
one who can do this, is sophisticated enough to find Network with SSID Off
in few seconds.

I gave up on having SSID turned off with WPA. SSID off worked with WEP
but does not with WPA.

Hi
In my opinion WPA + SSID On, is safer than WEP + SSID Off.
