I have a 2 part question.
1) If I don't have any 98 workstations on the network is WINS even required
anymore. My network is all 2000 or higher.
2)I currently have 4 WINS servers, the only one I can access is runnung on a
2000 DC, the other 3 are on 2003 DC. When I try to access them I get a
message stating the server cannot be found, access is denied, yet the service
is running and apperently servicing the network. The remote registry service
is running and set to Automatic.

Hi,

Wins is not required anymore on 2000/2003. DNS has taken over that role
completely. The only reason why WINS is still being used, is for the older
Windows versions like 98 & ME. Do you have SP1 installed on Server 2003?
Please give a brief explanation of your network setup.

Regards

I have 4 DC's, 3 2003 and one 2000. About 125 users total. Each branch (2)
has a 2003 DC. SP! is installed an all 2003 servers.
