Hi

I have two subnets linked by a PC that works as a router. The result is that
the netBios name fails to go through the router.

So I've to set up a WINS server on samba on a subnet, but nothing seems to
change.

I fear that my router-PC cause conflict as it has 2 interfaces with the same
NetBIOS name.

How can I test if my WINS server works well, and is there an other solution
to have netbios name?

NB : One subnet is only WinXP Pro composed, and the other is mixed WinXP
Pro/Win 2K/Linux.

Run a MS WINS on a Windows Server. I don't trust Samba to do "WINS"
properly. Point *all* machines to that one WINS in their network settings.
The WINS Server will begin adding them to its database over time,...so it
may take a day or so for all of them to show up in the WINS database.
Sometimes you may have to reboot a client to get it to register with WINS.
Until the WINS database is fully populated it will not be fully functional.

Netbios only binds to the first interface installed on the machine. I would
probably only add a WINS Server IP# to the primary Interface only and leave
it blank on the other just to be safe.

I only have win XP Pro and linux always running, and so I can set a MS WINS,
cause it's seems it's not possible under XP. But I'll try to let run this
config longer in order to see if the server grab all IP.

Thanks for your advice
