WINS - Recommended Maximum

What is the recommended maximum of entries for a single
WINS server? Looking at the best way to utilize wins for
legacy application and client support.

WINS is suppose to be able to handle millions of entries.
Its limitations have more to do with the number of clients
per server (around 5,000 - according to the Microsoft
Encyclopedia of Networking) than the number of entires. Just
make sure the server has lots of RAM if you have that many
entries.

For a medium to large setup, have at leaset two WINS servers
(for fault tolerance). And if you need three or more WINS servers,
use a "hub and spoke" architecture, where you have a single WINS
server that is secondary to all other WINS servers.
