Hello,

I have multiple NT4 domains with 2-way trust between them, WINS servers in
al domains set for replication (WINS run on Win2k servers), domains connected
through VPN. All of a sudden one of the domains doesn't show up in the
browser anymore, trust and mappings are working, only PDCs are set to master
browsers. what could've happened?

I would check the WINS settings first. This link may help,

Troubleshooting Computer Browsing over WAN That tells us this is Master Browser and WINS issue. Analysis and resolution: When each DC with WINS starts, it should register the [1b] and [20] for the DC ...

It is not my case, i don't get the "...is not accessible" because it doesnt't
exist, there is nothing to browse, the domain name is missing completely from
the net. neighborhood. DNS is working (nslookup), mapping is working
\\computername\resource, ping is working by name and IP address. What else
can it be??

Did you actually read Bob's post? This has nothing to do with DNS. The
browse list is built by the computer browser service using Netbios names.
WINS comes into it because it allows the browser service to work across
routers and WANs (which block broadcasts).

The first step is to use the browser troubleshooting guide in KB188305 .

The message for browstat ststus "missingdomainname" is "browsing is not
active on domain", but is not consistent, sometimes i get browsing is active
and "master name cannot be determined from GetAdapterStatus". Any thoughts?

Browsing across subnets can be a pain in the butt to troubleshoot
so it helps to have a full understanding of how exactly it works. The
following document gives you a detailed explanation of the process:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/150800/en-us

The most important thing to remember is browsing relies on NetBIOS
in order to build the list. In most cases NetBIOS connectivity is the
culprit. Any device blocking NetBIOS e.g., router, firewall will interfere
with this process. Start with the problem domain / subnet. If you open
a dos prompt on the DC and run net view what do you see? How about
on each client?

with just net view, i see everything within my domain (local), if i try net
view /domain:domainname, i get "system error 6118 has occured" from both DC
and client side. I also found out that 1b entry is miising from the WINS
server for that particular domain, is there a way to add it manually?

C:\net helpmsg 6118

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available

Big surprise huh? LOL. Immediately after running net view
against the remote domain open a dos prompt and run nbtsat -c.
What do you see?

Thank you all for your help, the problem was that the master browser int the
"stealth" domain wasn't registered wit WINS thus no replication to my domain.
Everything's back to normal now.
