WINS and Windows 2003

I run a native Windows 2003 network with 14 DC's spread over 13 Locations.
Everything runs fine but I have a bit of an issue with Net View - the
results returned are at best haphazard.

Even though windows 2003 now uses DDNS does it need WINS for all the
backwards compatibility for NETBIOS

If you still are using netbios name resolution then yes you want to use wins
otherwise the computers will resort to broadcasting . Wins is particularly
important when your network has more than one subnet in order for the browse
list to be combined from the network segments. Though Windows 2000/2003 uses
dns heavily most networks still use My Network Places via old fashioned NBT
to find network resources. --- Steve
