Hi. I'm running a Windows 2003 standard server as a single DC providing
DHCP, DNS and WINS to a small LAN. All was fine until I upgraded to SP1.
Initially I had lots of errors using DNS, with access denied and similar. I
appear to have solved the DNS issues by turning back on some of the many
services the new Security Configuration Wizard had turned off.
However, now when I look in the WINS console, the SERVER STATUS pages tells
me the server is present and responding and gets a green running arrow.
On the server itself in the left pane, the server has a red cross and the
information tells me it cannot be found. The error is 'The network path was
not found'. However, it is showing the correct IP address (the server's
own). I can ping both that IP address and the loopback. The network card is
the only one active in the machine and is not firewalled. DNS entries all
appear correct.
Anyone any ideas what might be happening??? I soooo love installing service
packs!!
Thanks,
Steve C
