Hello all,

I have a friend with a gateway desktop, and it had a bunch
of AOL adaptors and a BNC HPNA 10mbps adaptor. I removed
all the AOL since she doesnt use dialup. If you look in
the network it lists the BNC and a linksys LNE100 as the
only two TCP/IP adapters. However when I run winipcfg, it
only lists the BNC...
How do I get it to list an adapter that is not showing up?

any help would be appreciated,
gene

I would try highlighting the LNE100 in the device manager list, then
pressing the "Remove" button. After a reboot, the OS should "detect a new
device", and try to "locate device drivers". Have the device install disk
handy in case Windows wants to access it for the drivers. If that didn't
work, I would try to force a manual install of the drivers, using the
"Driver Update" button in the Device Manager. But I think I recall having a
difficult time with a Linksys Ethernet adapter; LNE100 just looks too
familiar. I had to manually extract about half a dozen files, or more. I
would note the error message, identify the missing driver file, then use a
search through the system .cab files to locate the drivers. Very painstaking
process which is normally automated through a list in a .inf file. I
wouldn't recommend it to somebody unfamiliar with low level computer
routines.

If that is the case, you may need to try a newer Ethernet adapter.
