Hello folks.
I run a small business which uses several computers behind an ICS
gateway. ICS runs on Windows XP.
The problem is as follows. I installed additional storage in the
ICS PC about a month ago. Nothing else was changed other than adding second
SATA-2 drive.
On both machines, drives are simply mapped so that all PCs can
easily share files. We have a system worked out, and it works for us, that is
until the RIGHTCLICK EXPLORER OPTION ENTITLED "SHARING AND SECURITY"
DISAPPEARED!
I have tried SFC /scannow and have also tried cleaning the
registry, reinstalling my Dell Motherboard drivers, reinstalling the drivers
on the Intel 10/100 NIC that connects to our Intranet switch.
I have toggled simple sharing on and off, several times, and
basically tried everything I could think of, not being a computer specialist.
I cannot re-install Windows at this moment as we have several customized
Poing Of Sale programs running and the programmer who designed the database
and all other software is on vacation until Sept. 4th. Oh, and I've also
tried to see the Winsock LSPs but did not spot anything wrong. I ran a
freeware program to fix winsock but it did not correct the problem. The odd
problem is that DIRECTORIES still have the dialog, but DRIVE LETTERS do not!
So I can't map an entire drive.
This problem is really driving me crazy, and I have not been able to get
Microsoft's attention even though I spend hundreds every year on their
software.
My question as as follows:
Is there any way to bring up this dialog by excuting a .CPL or .MSC file
perhaps?
Is there any suggestion as to how to fix it?
Please examine the following images which display the problem:

Thanks to any suggestions - I'll try anything offered
