Disable software firewalls and ICF. These block the
network. Set both computers to the same workgroup name (or
domain) -- don't use a mix of workgroup and domain
otherwise it won't work.
Select a folder and enable sharing. It should become
visible from the other computer. For the printer, select
the printer and enable sharing. On the other computer, add
the printer as a network printer (and not local).
