Hi, I hope someone can help with my question. I am using Windows XP on laptop with Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG. Sometimes when connecting the popup on Windows wireless icon will state (unsecured) after the SSID name. I am using a Linksys WRT54GS with WPA2PSK AES. There are no other wireless signals in my area that I could be picking up. Is this a Windows glitch? Thanks...

If you are using Intel PROSet software to control your 3945, make sure
that you have Windows Wireless Zero Configuration turned off. And vice
versa. See http://www.ezlan.net/wzc.html

Hi

Thanks for the replies, I did change the ssid name to something unique and turned off ssid broadcast on the router (Linksys wrt54gs v.7)for security reasons. This popup on the windows icon doesn't state (unsecured) after the ssid name all of the time just occasionally. There are no problems connecting to the router itself. The router set to wpa2 aes. Should I be using the Intel application rather than the windows application? When using the windows, I have the Intel not enabled. Are there other windows services, etc that I should check?

You didn't reply in the original thread or include the thread - so
it isn't easy to tell where this started. For starters, make sure
that you have deleted/removed all networks but the one you wish to
connect to fro the list. The instructions vary depending on whether
XP or Vista. There is also a setting to toggle for connecting to NON
preferred networks.

Please reply with the original thread included as a "quote" and tell
us which version of Windows.
