Hi, wonder if someone can help me plz,
I have a single forest with 2 domains, parent and child. A = Parent & B =
child (All Native Mode)
1) Server A1 - (Win2k3 + SP1) Infrastructure master
2) Server A2 - (Win2k3 + SP1) PDC, RID Master, Domain Master, Schame Master
3) Server A3 - (Win2k3 + SP1) Win2k & Exchange 2003

4) Server B1 - (Win2k3 + SP1) Infrastructure Master
5) Server B2 - (Win2k3 + SP1) PDC, RID Master
6) Server B3 - Win2k & Exchange

For Some reason, all of the domain controllers cannot update there time
except Server A2, it can update fine but the rest doesn’t want to, I get the
following messages in the System Event Log,
1) Time Provider NtpClient: An error occurred during DNS lookup of the
manually configured peer 'NTP_server_IP_Address,0x8'. NtpClient will try the
DNS lookup again in 30 minutes. The error was: No such service is known. The
service cannot be found in the specified name space. (0x8007277C)

2) The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire time from one or
more time sources, however none of the sources are currently accessible. No
attempt to contact a source will be made for 30 minutes. NtpClient has no
source of accurate time.

3) The time provider NtpClient cannot reach or is currently receiving
invalid time data from 10.10.0.10 (ntp.m|0x0|10.10.0.20:123->10.10.0.10:123).

4) Time Provider NtpClient: An error occurred during DNS lookup of the
manually configured peer 'NTP_server_IP_Address,0x8'. NtpClient will continue
to try the DNS lookup every 960 minutes. This message will not be logged
again until a successful lookup of this manually configured peer occurs.
The error was: No such service is known. The service cannot be found in the
specified name space. (0x8007277C)

5) The NTP server %1 isn't sync'd, time not set

I have tried everything now and just don’t want to work; any advice/help
will be much appreciated.

Thanks a mil
Hens

Active directory has a built in time service. The PDC emulator in the root
domain is the master time server for the forest. If you have assigned time
servers to the rest of the DCs, try removing them and leave it not
configured. The DCs in question should now get time from the PDC. If you
have not configured them with time servers, ignore everything I have just
said. :-)
