Just installed Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard edition

I have made the server the Domain Controller in my network and is the only
server I have The domain name is OUR

I also have 3 windows XP Pro workstations.they currently belong to a
workgroup (MYHOME)

From the server I can ping the router 192.168.10.1
no problem from the workstations I can ping the domain server 192.168.10.10
no problem

On the server I can not ping the workstations 192.168.10.100 .101 .102
etc

Any idea why I can not ping the workstations from the server?

I do not have any anti virus software running on the server yet

The workstations are all using Windows Live One Care

I also do not have the Windows Firewall running yet
unless it is and I am not aware of it but I tried to start it and the
services are not running

Please help

Thanks

Tom

When ping works in one direction and fails in the other, it is usually a
firewall problem. The firewall in XP is on by default.

The ability to ping a machine is pretty unimportant. Can you see file
shares on the server from the workstations? Can you join the domain?

Hello Thomas,

Sounds like firewall problem, check clients and server. Did you try to join
a client to the domain? If it doesn't work, what error message is displayed?

Best regards
