What IP address did it get? Is it in the same IP subnet as the router's
IP?
As a general rule, it is not a good idea to have a server receiving its
IP from a DHCP service. Give it a static IP in the same IP subnet as the
router's local IP address and set its default gateway to the router's local
IP address. What are you going to do about DNS when you can see the router?

internet. I have a router, connectected to a cable modem, connected to the
internet. My server appears to be able to contact the router and obtain an
IP address. However, from that point forward, nothing works...not even a
ping to the gateway IP address (192.168.1.1).
