Hi, we're having an unusual problem with our Windows Server 2003 firewall and
I haven't been able to find a solution on the web. Our web server is
colocated and we've been accessing it via RDC for the last 2 years. Recently
we moved our offices, and we aren't able to access it from the new IP
address. I tried to check the firewall settings on the network adapter to see
if there was an IP restriction, but when I click on the firewall settings I
get the following message: "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot
display Windows Firewall settings."

From what I've been able to find on the web, this is caused by a corrupted
registry key. I tried to reset the firewall and of course locked myself out
of the remote server. So, is there a way to fix the firewall or do I have to
completely reinstall the OS? Thanks for any help!

Walt

Make sure you don't have RRAS enable. Otherwise, check this search result.
Please post back with the result.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't realize they were mutually exclusive. RRAS
would probably be the best option for us then, I just thought something must
be wrong if the firewall settings couldn't be viewed. The previous
administrator had added a port restriction allowing remote access from one IP
address. I need to access the server from a different remote IP now, how do I
got about adding the new IP? Thanks again for your help.
