Exchange is "married" to Active Directory and even makes changes to AD which
are not reversable. If you do what you mentioned it will blow up in your
face so bad it may burn down the whole city block.
To do anything close to that you'd have to setup a second Exchange Server,
move all the mailboxes and other resources over to the second one. Then
"gracefully" follow the proceedures to remove the first Exchange from the
Site then uninstall it. Then remove/re-add the machine from/to the domain.
