Windows Protection Error

I've recently upgraded to IE 6.0 and the next day problems
started everywhere, everything has been lined out except
with I enable my CNET 200Pro NIC card windows boots to a
Windows protection error and halts.
upgrading the driver, installing driver update from
windowsupdate and using generic drivers and still isn't
working. Going to replace nic card with a new one in a
few days unless I can line it out.

any ideas?
