Hello Windows forum readers,
I would be much apprieciated if I could have your advise on the following:
We have a bank customer that has deployed a two node WAS (websphere
application server) ND v5.1.x cluster scenario using the WAS plugin for load
balancing / high availability purposes at WAS layer, along with IBM HTTP
(web) servers for the purposes of PROSALES web application(*). IBM HTTP
Server + WAS reside on the same physical machines (x 2) as per PROSALES
application requirements. (OS = Win2003 Srv)
Considering that cust. claims for Load Balancing / High Availability at web
server layer, I would be much appreciated if you could advise on the
following issues:
1) Is it recommended to use Windows NLB in order to achieve load balancing
between the two IBM HTTP servers? (NLB Support for WAS).
2) In case Windows NLB doesn't support IBM HTTP Servers, can I use instead
Ms IIS, as web servers?
3) Is it recommended for NLB to work as designed to have the Web Servers
(IIS or HTTP) on seperated machines (dedicated)?
4)Is it possible to extend the scenario (b) using an existing farm of IIS
(4-6 IIS web servers that reside on
seperated machines) to access the same WAS via IIS plugin?
[As far as I know the communication between IIS and WAS via plugin are
managed by IIS as "virtual folder". The documentation is available at the
WAS infocenter:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...ualWebIIS.html
(ir is related to v6 but there are no differences in the v5.1 plugin)]
(*) PROSALES is a web service "interactive" application relying on ATM
network which promotes bank's ebanking services
Many thanks in advance for your time and suppoirt
