Windows ME and wireless network

I have a wireless network using the Microsoft 500 base
station and 510 adapter. One computer runs XP-Pro and is
directly connected to the base station. The other
computer runs ME and uses the 510 adapter.
The two computers can 'see' each other just fine and can
share files. The computer that is directly connected to
the base station can access the Internet. The second
computer (Windows ME) cannot access the Internet. I
spent 5 hours on the phone (mostly holding) with the
Microsoft support people. After trying just about
everything, the technician said that there is probably
something corrupted in the Windows ME system files.

I tried reinstalling the system, but that didn't work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
