Windows Locator - Port 427

We recently went through an IT Audit.

Need to know what exactly the "Windows Locator" is for regarding Port 427.
I have found that it is open on some of my boxes internally but not all. I
tried narrowing it down to DC's, but not all DC's have it open.

Can't Google Much, so any info regarding these would be greatful.
