windows installer issue after joining a domain

We recently put in a Windows 2003 Server running terminal server. All of the
workstations except 2 are xp pro or vista. the other two are still 2000 pro.
On one of the 2000 machines there seems to be a problem with windows
installer now that it has joined the domain (if I log in apart from the
domain I don't have any problems and I am not in a terminal session). When
the computer boots the window installer lauches trying to install a tutorial
program that came preinstalled on the machine - it allows you to exit out of
it and go on. I have two other programs on this machine that have been on it
for a long time, when I launch either of them, the windows installer launches
and just hangs, requiring a
manual shutdown from the task manager. This only happens when I am joined to
the domain. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks
