Have you shared the fax ? If not in Printer and Faxes folder
right click on Fax , select properties and on Sharing tab
share it giving a share name (Fax). There click on the Drivers
button and select the OS which are on different clients machines.
On Security Tab ensure that permission to the clients is given.
Then on the clients machines run Add New Printer Wizard,
Select Network Printer, Chose the sharename-FAX.
This will add two Fax services, one for the shared fax on the server
and one for the local modem on the clients machine, you can delete
the Fax for the local modem if you don't wish the clients to send
fax through their modems.
For notifying each client ..when fax received..
you mean notify the client when the fax he has sent has been
successfully transmitted? Or if an incoming fax is receive you want
each client to be notified (the received fax will be forwarded to the
clients) .
Well, both are possible:
Delivery Notification through E-Mail:
Start "Fax Server Manager"
Right Click on "Fax(Local)" (Left topmost) and
select properties. There click on "Receipts" Page.
Check the box " Enable SMTP e-mail receipts delivery"
Give a From e-mail address (must be a valid e-mail address
at least during first time setting and testing.)
Give the IP address of your SMTP server
Port: 25 (unless your SMTP server uses another SMTP port)
If your SMTP server requires Authentication, click on Authentication
Tab and give required Authentication.
Check "Use This SMTP settings for routing incoming ....." (if you wish
to route incoming faxes through e-mail to clients.)
Click OK and close the property window.
Now when a client sends a fax, he should specify the return mail address
for receiving delivery notification.
Routing incoming received fax to clients:
Start "Fax Server Manager"
Expand "Devices", Expand "your modemname which receives fax",
and select "Incoming methods"
On the right side , Right Click on "Route through E-Mail" and select Enable.
Again Right Click on "Route through E-Mail" and select "Properties"
There click on "E-Mail" Tab.
There under Mail To: field enter the e-mail addresses of the clients, who
will
receive the incoming faxes. You can enter multiple e-mail address,
separating each
by a semi colon followed by a space.
Click OK.
