I installed the software for the MN500 on my friends
computer. They are using Windows XP Pro. After I
installed the software and restarted the computer I got
"program has failed and needs to be shutdown error"
problem is that it is Windows Explorer. If I click to
close the window the screen clears for a second then
refreshes with the same error. Windows still works for the
most part exept for a few things like the start menu. The
error is there every time I reboot the system.

Has anyone encountered this? And is there a way for me to
fix this other than doing a restore of the system?

You can uninstall the Microsoft Broadband Networking software in Control
Panel/Add or Remove Software, but I don't that's the issue. If you choose
to uninstall, the LAN setup will remain, and the base station can be
accessed from 192.168.2.1 (default IP, unless changed) in the browser. I
would suggest before uninstalling the software, though, that you make sure
the firewall is enabled and a thorough scan be done of the system with an
anti-virus program running the latest definitions.
