windows 98se computers wont talk to each other

Help!
Here is my problem: Both my computers(a laptop and a
desktop both running win 98 se) are set up to be on a
network and can see them selves but not each other. The
network cards are both 3com. One is a pcmcia and the other
is a pci.
All help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

check your workgroup and protocols to see that there the
same
