windows 98 wont respond to the internet, help!!!

Hello,
I was hoping to get some help with connecting my PC to
the internet. I have two computers: one is running winXP,
while the other is running win98(the first edition). I am
trying to network the two together while also allowing
them to share the dsl broadband. I have a Linksys router
connecting the two computers which in turn split the dsl
connection. The PC with winXP has complete access to the
internet and can ping the other computer, also the
router. The PC running win98 however has no internet
access nor can it connect to the other computer, but can
ping the other computer, router, and modem. This is
extremely frustrating, a tech came to work it out and
still couldn't get it to work. Can anyone offer advice or
suggestions of a patch or a solution. thankyou so much
